Child brought to Nashua hospital with ‘significant bruising’ leads to arrest of Manchester woman

Jessica Laferriere, 31, of Manchester

NASHUA — Police say a Manchester woman is under arrest on charges accusing her of causing ‘significant bruising on multiple parts of the body’ of a child, who was brought to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Sunday afternoon.

Charged is Jessica Laferriere, 31, no street address provided, following an investigation into the incident, police said.

She faces one felony count of second-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. She is accused of “causing bodily injury to a child under age 13,” police said.

Manchester police were called to the Medical Center around 2:45 p.m. to investigate a report of a child that had come in to the emergency department with injuries that appeared suspicious.

Police said a family member brought the child to the hospital, but they didn’t say whether it was Laferriere or another relative.

Nor did they say whether Laferriere is the child’s mother, or is otherwise related to the child.

They did say that the child sustained the injuries in Manchester.

Laferriere was arraigned yesterday and later released on personal recognizance bail.

Police said the matter remains under investigation.
