Powerball jackpot continues to climb over half a billion dollars

By Staff | Sep 28, 2021

CONCORD – The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting Monday’s (9/27) Powerball jackpot will increase to $545 million and the one-time cash payout to increase to $392.1 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are determined before taxes are withheld). If won, the $545 million jackpot would be the tenth-largest Powerball jackpot on record.

“When we added the third weekly Powerball drawing last month, we hoped there would be bigger and more frequent jackpots, and this jackpot run is certainly delivering on that expectation,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “Excitement is running high among our players and retailers throughout the state so get in on the action and buy your tickets now!”

Powerball drawing results from Saturday, September 25, were: 22-23-37-62-63 PB-19 with a Power Play of 3.

The Powerball jackpot is the largest amount it has been since January when the jackpot run concluded with a $731.1 million win in Maryland. Tonight’s drawing will be the 38th drawing in this jackpot run.

The Powerball jackpot was last won on June 5, when a winning $285.6 million ticket was sold in Florida.

The top-10 Powerball jackpots on record are:

$1.586 billion, January 13, 2016

$768.4 million, March 27, 2019

$758.7 million, August 23, 2017

$731.1 million, January 20, 2021

$687.8 million, October 27, 2018

$590.5 million, May 18, 2013

$587.5 million, November 28, 2012

$564.1 million, February 11, 2015

$559.7 million, January 6, 2018 (NH Winner)

$487.0 million, July 30, 2016 (NH Winner)

New Hampshire saw a $150,000 winner in last Wednesday’s drawing. Robert L. Dickenson of Nashua won $150,012. His ticket won a $50,000 prize multiplied by the Power Play number of 3 to win $150,000 and an additional $4 prize, again multiplied by the Power Play number of 3 to win $12 more.

Powerball drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. Last month, Powerball began offering a third weekly drawing every Monday.

Tickets are on sale at more than 1,400 retailers statewide, and online at NH iLottery. For more information and to play, visit www.nhlottery.com.
