NASHUA – A new analysis found that Joe Biden’s Agenda for the Latino Community could benefit an estimated 11,430 Latinos in the Nashua area. Biden’s plan focuses on Latinos’ economic mobility by making far-reaching investments to end health disparities, expanding access to high-quality education, and tackling racial inequity in our education system.

“Latino Granite Staters are ready to replace Donald Trump with Joe Biden, who will work with all of our communities to undo the damage of the Trump administration and support policies like increasing the minimum wage, expanding access to quality and affordable health care, and supporting our public schools,” said Letizia Ortiz, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party Latino Caucus.

The analysis found that Biden’s plan would help Nashua’s Latino community:

Biden’s plan invests in Latino economic mobility by making sure Latinos not only get back to work, but have a fair shot at joining the middle class – and would help an estimated 2,401 Latinos in Nashua whose income was below the poverty level in the last 12 months. Biden will fund state and local investment initiatives for Latino businesses, expand access to $100 billion in low-interest business loans for Latino communities, invest in a national network of cost-free business incubators and innovation hubs for professional development, and increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour across the country.

Biden’s plan makes far-reaching investments to end health disparities by race in Latino neighborhoods and to expand access to quality, affordable health care, which would help an estimated 1,964 Latinos in Nashua who are currently uninsured. Biden will reduce the uninsured rate for Latinos by creating a public health care option, lower costs for Latino Americans enrolled in Obamacare plans, and lower drug prices by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.

Biden’s plan expands access to high-quality education and tackles racial inequity in our education system, and would help the 2,995 Latino school age children in Nashua receive high quality education. Biden will close the gap between white and non-white school districts by nearly tripling Title I funding, will double the number of school psychologists, nurses, school counselors, and social workers so students have the support they need in schools, and will work to ensure that more public schools have additional resources to support English learners.

“From the beginning of his political career, cruelty towards the Latino community hasn’t just been a by-product of Donald Trump’s choices – often, it’s been the entire point. While Trump has tried to take away affordable health care for Latino Granite Staters, deny Latino workers a livable wage and paid family leave, and defund our public schools, Joe Biden has made helping Latinos and Granite Staters from all backgrounds a top priority,” said Ortiz. “We know we can count on Joe Biden to protect and expand access to affordable health care, create an economy that works for everyone, and ensure every child has access to a quality education. Latinos and Granite Staters from all backgrounds are ready to elect Joe Biden.”
