Hudson, Litchfield adapt their services

By Cheryl Fulton - Correspondent | Mar 29, 2020

HUDSON – The Greater Hudson area of Hudson, Litchfield and beyond continues to be impacted as does the rest of the state, with New Hampshire now under the governor’s stay-at-home order in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

HUDSON

The town of Hudson’s Emergency Operations Center opened March 18. Partial activation of the EOC will be 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, permitting all operations for COVID-19 to take place under one roof. For non-emergency COVID-19 questions, call 211. Hudson Town Hall may be reached by calling 603-886-6000.

Hudson has installed a drop box in the front door of Town Hall, for any transactions for the Town Clerk’s office. This will include items for the water, sewer and the assessing departments. Any registration renewals in the drop box will be processed and mailed back to the person making the request.

For questions about assessing documents and deadlines, visit www.hudsonnh.gov or call 603-886-6009.

The town of Hudson also is requesting donations of new and unopened packages of the following items: disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, N95masks, eye protection and paper towels. Donations may be dropped off at the following locations: Central Fire Station, 15 Library St., in the foyer of the main entrance; or James A. Taylor Fire Station, 204 Lowell Road, in the foyer of the main entrance.

Officials ask that those making donations label the items with the donor’s name and address, so they have a record of from where the donations came.

For those who may be looking for ways in which to make a difference in the community, one family’s story may serve as inspiration.

These Hudson residents went door to door in Buttercup Hill delivering care packages to neighbors in that community. Anyone who seeks to volunteer is asked to review current CDC guidelines for safety and distancing protocols at cdc.gov and also to adhere to state law, which is ever-changing amid COVID-19 response.

LITCHFIELD

Litchfield Town Hall is closed and operating virtually. Updates may be found at litchfieldnh.gov.

The Town is using Code Red to provide proactive and informational notifications to its residents. Officials are asking current residents to please sign up for this service, even they may have done so a few years ago, as that information now is considered to be out of date.

Officials have said this sign-up service will give residents access to all up-to-date details about COVID-19 and future events in Litchfield.

In addition, Litchfield has a YouTube channel, http://youtube.com/LitchfieldTV. All public meeting are published there, in video format. Town news also is available via Twitter

Learn more about our community correspondent, Cheryl Fulton:

Cheryl writes: I was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, moving to Nashua when I was 17 and have been here ever since. I love it here. My future father-in-law hired me, and that’s how I met my husband. We have raised three grown children and they live in town also.

I have two grandchildren and was self-employed for many years providing cleaning services to the elderly in the Hudson area. I retired from that two years ago. I discovered a passion for writing a few years ago, and have been meeting all kinds of people, mostly authors.

I love reading anything, especially mystery related. I also started a Facebook page – Granite State News and Happenings – about a year ago with just a little of everything going on in New Hampshire.

As soon as I get up in the morning, I turn on the coffee and go retrieve The Telegraph. I enjoy reading what’s going on around the area. I’m still married to my weekend husband, probably because he’s usually on a plane every Monday morning and home Friday night. Yep, life is certainly good.
