Woman allegedly damages HVAC unit at Nashua bar

NASHUA – When she was kicked out of a downtown Nashua bar with orders to stay away for at least a year, Crystal Ainslie later told police she was “mad … and let her emotions get the best of her” when she allegedly returned to the bar and damaged outside piping tied to the building’s HVAC system.

Ainslie, 26, of 0 Mount Pleasant St., was indicted this week on one count of criminal mischief, a Class B felony that accuses her of “purposely damaging the property of another by twisting the pipes of an HVAC system” belonging to Liquid Therapy, 14 Court St., on Sept. 28.

The charge is a felony because the cost to repair the damage she allegedly caused is in excess of $1,500.

Police said officers were called to Liquid Therapy, a craft beer bar that occupies a portion of Nashua’s historic former Central Fire Station, for a report of a person “yelling and bothering other customers,” according to their reports.

Officers spoke with the person, whom they identified as Ainslie, and gave her a summons that prohibits her from going to the bar for one year. A violation of the order typically results in a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass.

Two days later, police said, one of the bar’s owners called to report the damage to the HVAC system, and told police they suspected Ainslie.

A short time later, officers on patrol located Ainslie in Railroad Square, and asked her about the allegations.

According to police, Ainslie admitted to damaging the equipment, said she was angry, and apologized.

Police took her into custody on the warrant they had issued for her arrest, and after booking released her on personal recognizance bail.

Her bail conditions prohibit her from having any contact with Liquid Therapy, according to the reports.
