Man allegedly robs two banks in three days
MANCHESTER – Police arrested 52-year-old city man Michael Wells for allegedly robbing the Elm Street Citizens Bank and the Hooksett Road Eastern Bank within a span of three days.
Officers said Wells allegedly hit the Citizens Bank on Saturday, along with the Eastern Bank on Monday. Detectives working the case said they positively identified the suspect based on tips from the public.
Officers arrested Wells inside the hallway of 64 Merrimack St. at about 1 a.m. Tuesday while they were on scene for a separate incident.
Officer Michael Pauley recognized Wells as he knocked on an apartment door inside the building. Wells allegedly provided a false name, but the officer was able to positively identify him prior to placing him into custody.
Wells was charged with the two bank robbery warrants and booked at police headquarters. He was scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on Tuesday.
