Merrimack man could get life in prison
MANCHESTER – Merrimack resident Nathan Booker could go to State Prison for life if he is convicted of attempted murder, an act which allegedly took place Feb. 1 in Manchester.
Booker, 20, of 31 Indian Rock Road, also faces indictments by the Hillsborough County grand jury on one count of attempted first-degree assault, a Class A felony; five counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, Class B felonies; and one count of felonious use of a firearm, also a Class B felony, according to the documents.
The alleged crimes all took place on Feb. 1 in Manchester. The grand jury for the June term of Hillsborough County Superior Court-North handed up the indictments.
An indictment is not an indication, or proof of, guilt, but represents the grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists for prosecutors to move the case forward in Superior Court.
The most serious count of attempted murder alleges that Booker “attempted to kill (a person) by discharging multiple .40-caliber rounds in the direction” of the person, the indictment states.
Booker is accused in the attempted first-degree assault charge of attempting to cause bodily injury to the same alleged victim, again by shooting multiple .40-caliber rounds toward him or her.
The felonious use of a firearm charge alleges that Booker committed the crime of reckless conduct while armed with a pistol, the indictment states.
The five counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon stem from allegations that Booker put several people in danger of serious injury when he allegedly fired the firearm “at one or more individuals” and “at a vehicle, in close proximity to bystanders,” according to the indictments.
They also contain allegations that Booker placed the first alleged victim, along with three others, in danger of serious injury when he allegedly “discharged multiple rounds” at a warehouse on Silver Street in Manchester and in the direction of the three individuals.
According to news reports at the time, police were called to the 500 block of Silver Street the afternoon of Feb. 1 to investigate reports of multiple gunshots.
Some witnesses told news agencies that they heard shots when a fist fight broke out. Initial reports indicated someone had been shot, but police said no victim was found.
Police closed a section of Silver Street for about three hours while investigators worked the scene.
