WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) voted in favor of the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022, legislation to provide over $40 billion in emergency funding to support the Ukrainian people and defend global democracy in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

“In the 10 weeks since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, the world has witnessed the shocking brutality of Putin’s war and been reminded of the ongoing threats facing democracy across the globe,” said Rep. Kuster. “As Congress worked to quickly send aid to those impacted by this conflict, I have been heartened to see the outpouring of support for the people of Ukraine. The United States has and will continue to stand with Ukraine as they fight to protect their citizens, country, and democracy. The funding package passed by the House tonight delivers much-needed and immediate military, medical, and humanitarian relief to Ukraine and sends a clear message to Putin: America is unwavering in our support of Ukraine.”

Specifically, the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022 will provide:

• $67 million for DOJ General Administration to help cover the costs of seizing, retaining, and selling forfeited property (e.g., the yachts of Russian oligarchs) related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

• $6 billion to provide assistance, including training, equipment, weapons, logistics support, supplies and services, salaries and stipends, sustainment, and intelligence support to the military and national security forces of Ukraine.

• $2 million for technical and regulatory support to Ukraine’s nuclear regulatory agency.

• $900 million to provide refugee support services, such as housing, English language classes, trauma and support services, community support (including school impact grants), and case management, for arrivals and refugees from Ukraine.

• More than $5 billion in total is included to address rapidly growing food insecurity globally and the impact of rising food prices because of the conflict in Ukraine.

Kuster has been an outspoken advocate for the United States supporting the people of Ukraine. Congress has already delivered $13.6 billion in humanitarian, military, and economic support for Ukraine. Thanks to this aid passed by Congress, the United States has been able to send weapons and military equipment, including thousands of Javelins and anti-aircraft missile systems, drones, howitzers and counter-artillery systems, and military helicopters and armored vehicles.
