Kuster issues statement on U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on Texas abortion ban
CONCORD — Friday, U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s shadow ruling allowing the six-week Texas abortion ban to take effect this week:
“The Supreme Court has allowed Texas to ban all abortion services after six weeks, a devastating attack on women’s rights and health. As an adoption attorney for 25 years, I understand that the decision to end a pregnancy is deeply personal and should be made in consultation with one’s family and doctor, not the government.
“Like the vast majority of my constituents, I believe in less government interference in people’s personal lives. I stand with Granite Staters and those across the country who support a woman’s access to comprehensive health care, and was proud to help introduce the Women’s Health Protection Act – legislation that protects the right for health care providers to provide abortion care, and patients to receive that care, free from medically-unnecessary restrictions and bans like the Texas law. I will continue to fight for women’s basic rights in Congress and vote to protect reproductive health care for all women across America.”
