Shaheen, Hassan, Kuster announce more than $239K grant to Berlin Housing Authority to expand access to new economic opportunities for residents
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced that the Berlin Housing Authority will receive a $239,250 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Specifically, the funding was allocated through HUD’s Resident Opportunities & Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) grant program, which aims to link residents with training opportunities, job placement organizations and local employers – helping families access good-paying jobs and strengthening our local economy.
“These federal funds are an important investment in Berlin’s workforce and provides critical support to our local economy,” said Senator Shaheen. “By helping to expand access to new, transformative economic and educational opportunities in the community, this grant award will help residents find good-paying jobs to support their families and emerge from this economic crisis with a better sense of financial security. I’ll continue to be a strong supporter in the Senate of resources and initiatives that will empower Granite Stater working families so they can recover and rebuild as we get to the other side of the pandemic.”
