Washington, DC – This week, multiple pieces of legislation backed by Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) to improve access to health care for Granite State veterans passed the House of Representatives. Kuster was a co-sponsor of the VA Mission Telehealth Clarification Act, which would improve and expand access to telehealth services for veterans. She also backed the Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act to help female veterans access contraception.

“The men and women who have served our nation in uniform deserve access to the best health care and services possible,” said Kuster. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to ensure that telehealth services are available to the men and women who served so that they are able to safely access care from home. Comprehensive health care includes access to contraception and the legislation we advanced this week takes important steps to improve access to contraception for women veterans. I will continue to work across the aisle to stand up for Granite State veterans and their families.”

Kuster has focused on working across the aisle to improve access to care and support for veterans in New Hampshire and across the country. Kuster helped to pass the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, which expanded veterans benefits for 90,000 Navy veterans who served in the coastal waters of Vietnam and are impacted by toxic exposure as a result of their service. She also advanced $125 million to hire additional claims and appellate staff and overtime to reduce the disability claims backlog for veterans. Kuster was one of just two Democrats to co-sponsor the VA MISSION Act, which reauthorized the VA Choice Program and expanded access to community care for veterans in New Hampshire through a provision advocated for by Kuster.
