Kuster, Energy and Commerce Committee host hearing on COVID-19 impact on energy sector
HOPKINTON – U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) on Tuesday participated in a virtual hearing on COVID-19’s impact on the Energy Sector in the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy. During the hearing titled, “Reviving Our Economy: COVID-19’s Impact on the Energy Sector,” Kuster and her committee colleagues heard from former Department of Energy Secretary Ernest J. Moniz, President Gregory Wetstone of the American Council on Renewable Energy, and Executive Director Rich Powell of ClearPath.
“While this is a challenging time for the energy industry, it could be a moment of great opportunity to double down on our efforts to transition to clean energy, create green jobs, and cut greenhouse gas emissions,” said Kuster. “It is imperative that we continue to focus on climate change solutions and fight to ensure COVID-19 does not move us backwards in our fight to build a clean energy economy. I’ll continue my work to empower the more than 17,000 Granite Staters who are employed in the clean energy sector and support this essential industry.”
A member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy, Kuster has been a strong advocate for building a clean energy economy. Earlier this year, Kuster unveiled her Clean Energy Agenda, which focuses on policy proposals to promote investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean transportation, and more. Earlier this month, Kuster and Congressman Chris Pappas led a discussion with more than 30 local climate experts and business leaders on building a clean energy future.
