By Staff | May 15, 2021

NASHUA – Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, The Rivier Institute for Senior Education (RISE) awarded scholarships and elected officers at its annual meeting online on April 27. New officers, elected for 2021-2022, are: Cynthia Geiger, President; Lisa Marie Clark, Vice-President; Susan Hart, Secretary; and Delores Davis, Treasurer.

A $2,224 RISE Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Julia C., an undergraduate day student in Health Science. Daniel W., a graduate MBA Management student, was also awarded a $2,224 RISE Memorial Scholarship.

The RISE Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually, based on financial need, to a full- or part-time Rivier student with preference given to a student who has earned more than 30 credits at Rivier and is currently enrolled in at least two courses per semester.

A $1,550 Dr. Rose Arthur Scholarship was awarded to Yamiris S., a Professional Studies student in the Associate of Science Nursing Program.

The Dr. Rose Arthur Scholarship was established in honor of the founder of RISE. Dr. Arthur also served as Dean of the Undergraduate Evening School. The fund supports evening students who have demonstrated a commitment to the greater Nashua community through volunteer work or public service.

The RISE program, tailored for “learning in retirement” is in its twenty-fourth year. Individuals over age 55 are welcome to learn more about our program by contacting RISE at rise@rivier.edu . You can also visit the RISE website at www.rivier.edu/departments/rise and/or www.facebook.com/rise1997.
