By Staff | Mar 27, 2021

HUDSON – The Rodgers Memorial Library has announced the following activities:

Spice Club: The Rodgers Memorial Library Spice Club will feature a different spice or spice mix from around the world each month. The March spice is cumin and the April Spice is Ginger. Pick up a free spice kit including a small amount of the spice, a recipe, and a bit of background about the spice’s use around the world. Spice kits can be reserved through the library catalog. Check out our new databases, AtoZ Food America and AtoZ World Culture for additional recipes and information on cumin.Join us for a Zoom “Spice Chat” to share your opinions and experiences with this month’s spice, Cumin, at 11:30 a.m. on March 31. Register at events.rodgerslibrary.org.

Sea Shanty Sing Along: Fill your mugs with your favorite grog and sing along to sea shanties with a shanty leader. You will be muted so don’t be shy, no one will hear you. Lead a shanty if you choose. Choruses and refrains will be screen shared for the event, set for 7-8 p.m. on April 1. Register for a Zoom link at events.rodgerslibrary.org.

First Friday Family Bingo: Join the Rodgers Memorial Library on April 2 for bingo for all ages on Zoom. Win prizes, including candy, books and more. Register at events.rodgerslibrary.org to receive a meeting code.

DIY Natural Ginger Ale and Vanilla Almond Extract: Making your own homemade products is an easy way to know exactly what you’re eating and drinking. Most store-bought ginger ales are made by mixing ginger extract (and other flavorings) with carbonated water and high fructose corn syrup. You can DIY a healthier, probiotic-rich version of ginger ale at home! Not only is it delicious; it’s perfect for nausea, to soothe an upset stomach, and fight colds. Join the mother-daughter team of the Grounded Goodwife on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on April 2, as they chat about ginger ale and vanilla/almond extracts and show you how easy it is to make your own right in your own home! Register for a Zoom link at rodgerslibrary.org.
