Virtual tasting event set

By Staff | Mar 6, 2021

The NH Food Alliance, a statewide network supported by the UNH Sustainability Institute and dedicated to growing a thriving, fair, and sustainable local food system in the Granite State, has partnered with several local and statewide organizations to host Meet New Hampshire Makers, a virtual tasting event part of the 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering. The event is set from 5:15-6:30 p.m. on March 11.

In support of local small businesses, food producers, and artisans from across New Hampshire, the virtual event will highlight short presentations from three featured makers: Wood Stove Kitchen, Winnipesaukee Woods Farm, and Wayfarer Coffee Roasters, followed by a Q&A session.

Meet New Hampshire Makers is a free event and registration is open to the public. Although purchasing a Meet New Hampshire Makers tasting box is not required to attend the virtual tasting event, attendees who choose to purchase one are encouraged to try products from their boxes during the event to spark learning and discussion about the featured makers, their products, and supporting locally made New Hampshire goods.

Meet New Hampshire Makers, as part of the 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering, showcases the vibrancy of the local food system when everyone from makers and producers to distributors and organizers work together, while also highlighting how businesses and organizations have innovated to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions. The event falls under the overall goal for the 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering, March 11-12: providing a forum to share innovative agricultural and food-related responses to COVID-19 from across the state and explore more opportunities to emphasize the “power of local” in building a resilient and vibrant future for the NH food system through a variety of roundtable discussions, a keynote address by Laura Brown of Fox Point Oysters, and Closing Notes & Call to Action by Evan Mallet of the Black Trumpet. To register or purchase a tasting box for Meet New Hampshire Makers and the 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering, visit the gathering’s website nhfoodgathering.weebly.com.

Meet New Hampshire Makers & the 2021 NH Food System Statewide Gathering is presented in partnership with UNH Sustainability Institute, the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, UNH Extension, Cooperative Development Institute, Greater Nashua Food Council, Vital Communities, Genuine Local, Seacoast Eat Local, Belknap County Conservation District, National Center for Appropriate Technology, NH Farm to School, Co-op Food Stores, NOFA-NH, and Kearsarge Food Hub. The NH Food System Statewide Gathering is the only event in New Hampshire bringing together individuals, businesses, and organizations across sectors who are dedicated to growing an improved local food system that works for all in the Granite State: people, businesses, communities, and the environment.
