Girl Scouts donate cookies to vets, plans made for future donations

By Staff | May 30, 2020

BEDFORD, NH  – Veterans in New Hampshire and Vermont are enjoying their favorite Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, and more, thanks to donations made by the public to Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains. The council serving girls in the two states has had to be creative in finding recipients for Girl Scout Cookies in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is grateful to the public for making donations to our military, veterans, and other hometown heroes.

On May 21, 4,500 packages of Girl Scout Cookies were delivered to the Manchester Veterans Administration and the Tilton Veterans Home in New Hampshire, and the White River Junction Veterans Administration in Vermont. More than 22,000 packages will be donated to our heroes in total this year. There are also plans in the works to donate to a National Guard unit that is providing aid to a Thetford, VT, community event.

Robin Boyd, Manager of Product Sales for the Girl Scout council, said the staff at the VA was ecstatic to receive the delivery, and the Tilton and White River Junction staffers were equally happy.

Debra Krinsky, voluntary service officer at the Manchester VA, said of the safely masked veterans who unloaded the delivery, “You can’t see all the smiles! Believe me, they’re there!”

Cookies are available through May 31, and can be delivered through the mail or in person once the stay-at-home orders are lifted. It’s a great way to support your local Girl Scout troop.
