City garden tour and plant sale scheduled for Sunday

By Staff | May 30, 2020

Owner of The Big Little Garden, Barb Young, invites the public to enjoy a self-guided walk through her garden.

She is hosting the free event with an encouraged donation which will be given directly to Symphony NH.

Enjoy a red-veined Enkianthus that towers at 15 feet high and is loaded with thousands of blooms. See the greenery in all its glory – from Solomon’s Seal, ligularia, heuchera and ferns, hundreds of allium in a dozen different varieties, Korean Lilac, honeysuckle, foxglove, weigela amsonia, poppies, geum, Deutzia and more, including the possibility of foxtail lilies that are ready to burst into color.

Bird lovers will enjoy the possibility of seeing the dozens of bird species supported by the myriad plants on the property. Lucky visitors may even see a hummingbird or two.

Plants will be available for sale. In addition, local artist Galina Gzakacs, owner of Conversations With Clay, will have select items from her polymer clay collection available, including garden-inspired vases, glasses and bowls, with 20% of the proceeds going to Symphony NH.

There is no entrance fee, but donations of any amount to support Symphony NH’s future programming and live concert events are appreciated.

Attendees are asked to bring their mask “attire” and maintain a safe distance while enjoying the garden.

The garden tour and plant sale are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at 11 Brackenwood Drive in Nashua.
