Warm line setup for families in distress

By Staff | Apr 12, 2020

As the global pandemic turns daily life upside down, stresses are high and families are feeling the impact.  To help families through these unprecedented times, Waypoint, in partnership with the State of New Hampshire, has developed a statewide Family Support Warm Line that launched on Monday, April 6, in synchronization with National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.

The Warm Line is a free phone-in service where callers can talk to a family support professional to get help with everything from coping strategies, child behaviors, family dynamics, household management and emotional distress, to gaining access to tools, resources, and services that can help navigate life through challenging times.

“Callers may need advice or just a trusted, nonjudgmental ear,” says Borja Alvarez de Toledo, president/CEO of Waypoint.  “Either way, it’s a good way to enhance protective factors for families while helping them to feel less isolated and more supported.”

Family Support Warm Line details:

– The toll-free number is  1-800-640-6486 and there is never a charge for the service.

– The Warm Line service started on Monday, April 6.

– Callers may  phone into the Warm Line anytime Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.

– Each Warm Line session may last up to one hour.

– Family support professionals  will provide guidance and support on issues big or small, and may offer referrals to specialized Waypoint programs or other providers in the community

– NOTE: This is not a HOT-line. Emergency calls should still be made to 911.

“We’re honored be a part of the greater social safety net helping New Hampshire families in their time of need,” continues Alvarez de Toledo.  “We hope families will feel comforted to know we’re here and will call us if and when they need help.”

The Waypoint Family Support Warm Line is funded in part by the NH Department of Health and Human Services.
