City Hall flag raising

By Staff | Apr 5, 2020

A ceremony to raise the flag of the Francophone World at Nashua City Hall plaza was on March 3, sponsored by the Richelieu Club Nashua in the presence of Mayor Jim Donchess, Aldermen Ernest Jette and Jan Schmidt, and Consular Representatives from French-speaking countries’ Boston offices: Canada, France, and the Quebec Province. The flag of the Francophonie will fly for one week. It was the kick-off event to celebrate the French-Canadian heritage of Nashua and the many descendants of French-Canadian immigrants who came down from Quebec between 1860 and 1920 to work in the mill towns of New England.

The flag raising was followed by greetings from the officials and a light lunch.
