Paralegal Association to hold 30th annual meeting in Bedford

By Staff | Aug 25, 2013

The Paralegal Association of New Hampshire will celebrate 30 years of service to the paralegal community during its annual meeting at the Bedford Village Inn on Friday, Sept. 20.

The keynote speaker will be New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster.

Program and registration information is available at www.panh.org.

The third week of September traditionally has been declared Paralegal Week by the governor of New Hampshire, and PANH schedules its annual meeting during this period.

“The purpose of the governor’s proclamation is to remind employers to recognize the contributions and the dedication of their paralegals,” according to the New Hampshire Bar Association. “In busy work environments, people tend to take for granted the hard work done by paralegals. These professionals assist in providing high-quality legal representation to clients by ensuring accurate work content and making other overall contributions to the legal team.”

The annual meeting includes continuing legal education presentations, election of a board of directors and officers for the upcoming membership year, recognition of the PANH Paralegal of the Year and presentation of the N.H. Bar Association’s Paralegal Professionalism Award.

The award is presented annually to a nominee who best exhibits a high degree of professionalism, an outstanding level of knowledge about his or her career, and who is highly motivated, a role model for other paralegals, and promotes the paralegal profession.

PANH will also award its scholarship to a student enrolled in a New Hampshire paralegal program.

PANH is a New Hampshire membership-based, nonprofit organization composed of paralegals, law firms and other organizations dedicated to the development of the paralegal profession.

Ongoing events include CLE opportunities, a spring dinner and a number of lunch-and-learn sessions on various legal topics. PANH also offers a quarterly newsletter, “The Annotator,” which provides articles by attorneys and keeps its members up to date on news and events.

PANH is a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, a professional organization representing more than 15,000 paralegals in the United States and Canada. Being affiliated with the NFPA has been an intricate part in helping to build professionalism and maintain networking with paralegals, businesses, other associations and law firms at national level.

The NFPA monitors regulation, legislation, case law and changes to rules and ethics that affect the paralegal career. This affiliation plays an important role in shaping the paralegal profession.
