Hudson Junior Rifle Team seeks new members

By Staff | Aug 22, 2013

HUDSON – The Hudson Fish and Game Club’s New Hampshire Junior Rifle Team has six openings for juniors ages 12 or older for the upcoming year.

This is a competitive paper target shooting program. The new members become part of the team, whose members currently hold individual and team state and national titles.

Rifle is an Olympic sport. New members will be trained for small-bore .22 rifle and precision air rifle competition in this style. The staff includes six NRA-certified rifle coaches and two additional coaches with years of match experience.

The team will teach three-position competitive rifle from the beginning using National Rifle Association programs and materials. Once basic marksmanship skills are learned, new shooters will participate in indoor and outdoor competitions. Travel to other states is expected, but is within New England in most cases.

The team will supply the .22 rifle and basic equipment for the beginning marksman. Some parental involvement may be needed, such as match transportation or occasional help during practice. The only cost for the beginner is a monthly membership fee of $25.

Practices are from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays or Thursdays at the Hudson Fish and Game Club. A two-night rifle clinic will also be held.

No previous rifle experience is necessary. All you need is a desire to shoot and a desire to compete.
