Virtual job fair slated for Aug. 12

By Staff | Aug 8, 2020

CONCORD – Forty employers in New Hampshire’s tech and manufacturing sectors will look to fill over 600 jobs during the inaugural virtual job fair on Aug. 12, organized by the NH Tech Alliance, the Department of Employment Security, and the Department of Business and Economic Affairs.

The available jobs range from manufacturing associates and process engineers, to data scientists and marketing positions, and, according to George Copadis, commissioner of NHES, illustrates the continued need for a strong workforce, despite the challenges of COVID-19.

“The virtual job fair platform enables us to continue with our mission of connecting employers with the workers they need,” he said. “Prior to COVID-19, the state conducted as many as 20 job fairs across the state, hosting events on community colleges campuses, university system campuses and town halls. The pandemic requires that we facilitate the opportunity for employers and job seekers to connect in a safe and healthy way. The partnership with the NH Tech Alliance in making virtual events like this possible is perfect for our current situation.”

Business and Economic Affairs Commissioner Taylor Caswell said connecting people with the skills employers need is critical to getting the New Hampshire economy back on track.

“Access to the workforce they need enables them to continue to meet demand and remain competitive,” he said.

The jobs available at the Aug. 12 job fair range from entry level workers to experienced employees seeking to change sectors.

“With over 600 jobs needing employees, there is clearly a demand for a way to fill them,” said Julie Demers, executive director of the NH Tech Alliance. “Technology is going to help employers do that efficiently and timely.”

The participating employers will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with up to eight job fair attendees at a virtual table at one time. The event, sponsored by Market Street Talen and the Leddy Group, is free to employers and job seekers, but job seekers need to register.
