MaineWorks is opening in New Hampshire

By Staff | Aug 8, 2020

MaineWorks is a staffing company with 10 years of experience providing skilled and unskilled labor to the construction industry in Maine. Due of their commitment to helping people in transition, MaineWorks has been recognized for their social impact by many organizations including: SBA Maine Chapter, SBA National and the Maine Public Health Association. In 2013, MaineWorks became the first B-Corp in Maine, which certifies a company’s commitment to using business as a force for good.

In traditional labor staffing models, people are treated as “disposable labor.” MaineWorks seeks to dignify transition from recovery and reentry by providing full-time employment and the integrative services which support work and building a new life. Most of our employees are in recovery from substance use disorder and reentry from jail and prison, and their needs are immediate and complex. MaineWorks provides a free ride to work, boots, coats, and work gear. Working with a 501c3 non-profit, Maine Recovery Fund, they also provide financial assistance for rent, dental care, access to medical care, as well as immediate consultation with a trained mental health professional.

COVID-19 has created myriad challenges to both jobsites and workers. Although the construction industry has remained open and robust, as unemployment benefits diminish, there is an expected flood of our opening in southern New Hampshire with emphasis in Manchester, Dover, Nashua and Portsmouth.
