MANCHESTER – Gubernatorial candidate Joyce Craig recently received the 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction for advocating for gun violence prevention.

“We cannot ignore the gun violence epidemic in our country or state, which is why I released a comprehensive gun violence prevention plan for New Hampshire,” said Craig. “I am honored to receive the Mom’s Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction and stand with so many dedicated activists who are committed to keeping our communities and families safe. I have a record of implementing gun violence prevention strategies as mayor of Manchester and as governor, I’ll take action to protect our students and families from senseless gun violence.”

During Craig’s tenure as mayor, Manchester saw continued improvements in public safety. They included:

-Lowering violent crime by more than 38 percent

-Implementing the city’s first gun violence prevention strategy, which resulted in a 27 percent decrease in gunfire incidents last year

-Funding a gunshot recognition technology system in Manchester

-Establishing School Safety Teams to prevent acts of school violence

-Funding the largest police complement in city history with a focus on community policing and training
