Citing plaintiffs’ lack of standing, judge dismisses lawsuit against Gov. Sununu over expenditure of federal COVID funds

MANCHESTER — Judge David Anderson Wednesday afternoon issued a ruling dismissing the lawsuit against Gov. Chris Sununu, in which the plaintiffs — four top legislative Democrats — argued Sununu needed to involve the House Finance Committee in the plans to distribute the $1.25 billion in emergency federal COVID-19 funding coming to New Hampshire.

Anderson cited lack of standing, meaning the plaintiffs are not in a position to pursue legal action “to stop the governor from acting” in his plans to allocate the funds.

Anderson also agreed with Sununu’s position that convening meetings with the committee to discuss the funding would likely delay the process of distributing the funds to where the need is greatest.
