When this old black and white photo of the Amherst Street School was taken isn't known for sure, but there's little doubt it was quite a bit closer to 1892 than 2021. Like a lot of brick buildings of the era, the old schoolhouse was once covered at least partially in ivy, ideal for that purpose because it's a fast-growing vine that likes to cling to things.
