Cancer center welcomes staffer

NASHUA – St. Joseph Hospital is proud to announce Dr. Nirav Patel is joining St. Joseph Hospital’s Cancer Center, further expanding access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer treatment close to home. The addition of Patel both strengthens and expands St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Center’s existing team of board-certified oncologist/hematologists specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Patel studied medicine at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadordara in Gujaret, India. He also completed two residencies – Ophthalmology Surgery at the medical school he attended and Internal Medicine at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Following the internal medicine residency, he served as a hospitalist at University Hospital in Newark, N.J., and an assistant professor of medicine for the Department of Medicine at Rutgers University. Most recently, he completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn., with a bone marrow transplant rotation at The Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tenn. His clinical interests include treating solid tumors as well as breast and lung cancer.

“I’m honored to be part of the Nashua community and join St. Joseph Hospital’s team of caring and compassionate providers,” said Patel. “I’ve always been driven to care for people who are navigating cancer. I look forward to partnering with my patients to ensure they get the very best care at an incredibly difficult time.”
