By Staff | Jun 29, 2016

MERRIMACK – The 13-year-old bicyclist seriously hurt Tuesday afternoon when his bicycle and a SUV collided on Daniel Webster Highway continued to recover Wednesday at a Nashua hospital, police said.

The youth, whose name wasn’t released, was on his bike on the side of a busy intersection near Church Street when he was struck by the 2014 GMC Acadia, which officers with the Merrimack Police Department said was traveling south on Daniel Webster Highway at the time.

Police said the driver, Christine Nazaka, 34, of 9 Danforth Lane in Merrimack, was “visibly shaken” by the incident but wasn’t physically hurt.

Firefighters and paramedics stabilized the injured youth at the scene then took him by ambulance to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. Police said that while his injuries are considered serious, they aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

The SUV sustained damage to the right front quarter-panel and part of the hood, while the bicycle came to rest on the grass adjacent to a sidewalk on the west side of DW Highway.

Police didn’t state whether any charges may be forthcoming, but said the investigation is ongoing. They ask anyone with any information to contact the department at 424-3774.
