Annual fundraiser opens April 12 at Souhegan High School

By Staff | Apr 12, 2018

AMHERST – The curtain goes up on the 66th annual Amherst PTA Play this month.

A magical four-day, five-show run of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” begins Thursday at Souhegan High School in Amherst. As final rehearsals and preparations take place, tickets are going fast for the largest fundraiser for the PTA.

The show begins with a 7 p.m. debut Thursday, followed by nightly shows at the same time on Friday and Saturday. A matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday round out the schedule in the beautiful theater at Souhegan High.

Tickets are available for $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, and proceeds from the show provide thousands of dollars for vital curriculum enrichment programs and teacher grants in Amherst’s schools. Tickets may be purchased at Moulton’s Market, Mother & Child Clothing and Gifts and Black Forest Cafe in Amherst, plus Stephen Marx Hair Salon and Toadstool Bookshop in Milford. Online tickets are available by visiting https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3095512.

A wide range of talented thespians from the greater Amherst area has filled dozens of singing, dancing and acting roles, under the direction of Sharron and Ben April. It has taken nearly as many community members to fill critical behind-the-scenes openings in direction, choreography, music and set and costume design for the all-volunteer production.
