MERRIMACK – The woman police allegedly clocked at 87 mph on Daniel Webster Highway just before she crashed near the 7-11 store roughly three weeks ago has been charged, police said, after turning herself in over the weekend.

Jamie Van Lier, 29, of 26 Harmony Lane, Hooksett, is accused of driving at more than twice the posted 35 mph speed limit as she headed north on the Daniel Webster Highway just before midnight Nov. 25.

Police said an officer on patrol in the area of Gilbert Crossing was driving south on the highway when a vehicle, driven by a woman later identified as Van Lier, allegedly sped past him.

By the time the officer turned around, police said, the vehicle was nowhere in sight. But when the officer reached the 7-11, roughly a half-mile from where the vehicle passed him, he saw that the car had left the road and crashed.

Van Lier and her passenger, whom police didn’t identify, were extricated from the car by Merrimack firefighters, then transported by ambulance to a Manchester hospital, police said.

Upon turning herself in on the warrant for her arrest, Van Lier was charged with one count each of reckless operation, disobeying an officer, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

She was booked on the charges and later released on personal recognizance bail. Police said she is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in Merrimack district court.
