NASHUA – A felony charge alleging a knife threat and a series of misdemeanors accusing him of punching the alleged victim several times in the head have been lodged against Antony Espinal De Leon, a 21-year-old Nashua man who currently has no fixed address.

De Leon appeared in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South Tuesday for arraignment, at which Judge Charles Temple granted the prosecutor’s recommendation that De Leon be jailed on preventive detention for the time being.

Because no attorney was available to represent De Leon on Tuesday, Temple told him that as soon as a lawyer is appointed for him, the court will immediately schedule a bail hearing.

Nashua police arrested De Leon around 3:30 p.m. Monday, two days after he allegedly “criminally threatened a female known to him with a knife” and “physically assaulted her,” police said.

The charges, all domestic violence-related, include one count of criminal threatening – deadly weapon, a Class B felony, along with six counts of simple assault, Class A misdemeanors.

The alleged spate of violence reportedly took place in and around a vehicle, according to Assistant County Attorney Lin Li, the prosecutor.

De Leon allegedly brandished a knife and pointed it at the alleged victim, accounting for the felony charge.

The misdemeanors accuse him of punching the woman four times in the head, pushing her face against the vehicle, and grabbing her clothing while attempting to pull her out of the vehicle, according to the charging documents.

She ended up flagging down a cab driver for assistance, Li, the prosecutor, said.
