By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Nov 6, 2019

Melvin Campbell, 18, of 16 E. Pearl St., Nashua

NASHUA – Police, during a recent drug sweep that netted five individuals on various drug-related charges, initially arrested one of them, 18-year-old Melvin Campbell, on a violation-level charge of possessing marijuana.

But it wouldn’t be long before the officers added four more charges, two of which are felonies accusing Campbell of possessing a stolen Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 handgun and allegedly trying to get rid of it.

Now, Campbell, of 16 E. Pearl St., faces a total of five charges: One count each of receiving stolen property – stolen firearm, a Class A felony, and falsifying physical evidence, a Class B felony, along with two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest or detention, plus the marijuana possession violation.

Police said they were able to determine the firearm had been stolen from Virginia.

Campbell was arraigned Friday and ordered housed on preventive detention, police said.

Campbell and the four others were arrested during what police called “a coordinated round-up,” involving members of the department’s Narcotics Intelligence Division and the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit.

Also arrested were:

• Kara Rudolph, 48, of 57 1/2 Kinsley St., Nashua. Charged with one count each of possession of crack cocaine, a special felony, and falsifying physical evidence, Class B felony;

• Jason McCarthy, 37, of 65 Ash St., Apt. A, Nashua. Charged with four counts of sale of marijuana and one count of sale of LSD, special felonies; and one count of resisting arrest, Class A misdemeanor;

• Christine Brady, 42, of 4 Strawberry Bank Road, Apt. 16, Nashua. Charged with three counts of sale of crack cocaine, special felonies; and

• Tiffany Vincent, 39, of 23 Albin St., Concord. Charged with two counts of sale of heroin, special felonies.

Rudolph, McCarthy and Brady were released on bail pending arraignment on Nov. 14, while Vincent was released pending arraignment at a future date.
