Driver fatigue possible in serious turnpike crash
NASHUA – A collision involving two pickup trucks on the Everett Turnpike near Exit 5 in Nashua early Tuesday morning may have resulted from driver fatigue, New Hampshire State Police said.
Seriously injured in the crash was Carlo Adames, 43, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, whose 2002 Ford F-150 was reportedly rear-ended by a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Michael Duclos, 48, of Litchfield, police said.
They said Adames sustained serious injuries in the collision and was “ultimately transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester for treatment of those injuries.”
Duclos suffered what police described as minor injuries not considered life-threatening. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, police said.
While “all aspects of the collision remain under investigation,” police said based on their preliminary investigation, driver fatigue appears to be a factor.
The heavily-damaged trucks blocked portions of the turnpike’s northbound lanes in the area of Exit 5, forcing police to close a segment of the turnpike for about 90 minutes while they investigated.
Nashua police, firefighters and American Medical Response ambulance personnel assisted state police at the scene, as did a crew from the state Department of Transportation.
Police ask anyone with any information on the crash to contact Trooper Robert Bifsha at the state police Troop B Barracks at 603-223-3849, or Robert.Bifsha@dos.nh.gov.
