New director appointed at art institute during merger

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — There’s a new leader at the New Hampshire Institute of Art as its merger with New England College moves forward.
James Murtha has been appointed to a new role as campus director of the art institute, overseeing all day-to-day operations at the Manchester campus. He previously served as senior vice president of academic alliances at New England College in Henniker.
The New Hampshire Institute of Art will operate as a subsidiary of New England College during the initial phase of the merger. Eventually, students from both schools will be able to study at either location.
