Fast-moving snowstorm hits, departs from Maine, NH

The first snowfall of 2019 didn’t set any records, but it did cause a messy commute in Maine and New Hampshire.
The snow started falling early Thursday and up to 4 inches (10 centimeters) accumulated before the storm departed by noontime. The slippery roads caused a tractor-trailer to jackknife on the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford, snarling traffic.
Derek Schroeter from the National Weather Service said the snowfall reached about 4 inches in a short period in several locations.
More snow is possible next week. Meteorologists are tracking a weather system that could bring heavier snowfall to the region on Tuesday.
