New Hampshire considers options after sales tax ruling
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Gov. Chris Sununu and other state officials are working on ways New Hampshire can fight back against a Supreme Court ruling that states can force online shoppers to pay sales tax.
The high court last week overturned a two decades-old Supreme Court decisions that impacted online sales tax collection. New Hampshire doesn’t have a sales tax, but the ruling could force its businesses to collect taxes for other states. New Hampshire officials responded that the ruling will create red tape that hinders the ability of small businesses to grow and create jobs.
Sununu is holding a news conference on the topic Thursday. He’ll be joined by the state attorney general and several agency heads.
