The 4th Grade Nighthawks defeated Wakefield, 47-45. Brenden Choate led Nashua with 17 points. Michael Robbins added 14 points, four rebounds and two steals. Yassine Jakib had 10 rebounds, while Curtis Harris came up with a great steal at the end. Nathan Kane had several key assists that were critical down the stretch and also added six points.
The 5th Grade Nighthawks capped off their regular season with a 49-36 victory over Dracut, Mass. The Nighthawks were led offensively by Nevan Roy with 14 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals. The ’Hawks also received big games from Andrew Penkala (nine points, two assists, rebound), Jake Robbins (eight points, eight rebounds, two steals, block) and Matt Wall (seven points, rebound, assist). Also scoring for Nashua were Andre LaPlante (four points, two assists, two steals), Patrick Gillis (three points), Casey McNally (two points, assist) and Chris Inzerillo (two points, rebound). Gabe Perrault, Tyler Downing (four assists, rebound) and Jeffrey Reza (three assists, two rebounds and two steals) also played well and contributed to the victory.
The 6th Grade Nighthawks capped off an undefeated regular season with a 69-34 win over Westford, Mass. Alonzo Linton scored 20 points and grabbed four rebounds. Sclyler Boykin added 10 points, four rebounds, six assists, five steals and a blocked shot. Also scoring were Matthew Franco (10 points), John Champa (seven points, six assists and four steals) and Yanis Nyantenji (eight points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots).
Granite State Raiders tryouts on March 17, 18
The Granite State Raiders will be holding tryouts at the Concord Boys & Girls Club for this year’s AAU teams on Saturday, March 17 (6th Grade and under girls from 8-9:30 a.m.; 7th, 8th and 9th Grade girls from 9:30-11 a.m.) and Sunday, March 18 (7th and 8th Grade boys from 8-9:30 a.m.; 9th Grade boys: 9:30-11 a.m.; 10th and 11th Grade boys from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). 2012 football camps are scheduled
The Nashua PAL Force City Football Camp, a week-long camp which focuses on strength and speed technique along with the dynamics of offensive and defensive positions, is scheduled for June 11-15 from 6-8:30 p.m. each day at Artillery Field (behind Holman Stadium). All participants must currently be in grades 2-7. There is a $20 cost per participant.
The NPF Position Specific Camps, which focus more on fundamental and techniques of specific offensive and defensive positions along with more one-on-one instructional time are schedules as follows:
Offensive skills positions of quarterback, receivers and running backs, along with defensive the positions of linebackers, safeties and corners on June 18 and 19 at Artillery Field (behind Holman Stadium) from 6-8:30 p.m. All participants must currently be in grades 2-7. Nashua Central Cal Ripken baseball is now accepting registrations for the spring season. Nashua West and Nashua Northwest have recently merged to create Nashua’s newest baseball league for players age 4½ thru 12. Nashua Little League offers levels for all boys and girls from age 5-12 years old. NH U14 Black Flies holding tryouts
The 2012 New Hampshire Black Flies 14U AAU baseball team is seeking one or two players to complete the roster.
Based in Bedford, this highly competitive program offers a small roster size, indoor winter training at the Hampshire Dome and the Playball of Nashua, professional instruction and league play (both AAU and GSBL). The team will be ending the season in July with a trip to compete in the AAU National Championships, which will be held in Fort Myers, Fla., at the spring training facilities of the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins.
