Six area youths ready for districts

Five Nashua youths – 13-year-old Chaz Magras, 11-year-old Tilak Patel, 10-year-old Rita Dow, 9-year-old Bianco Gershgorin and 9-year-old Toby Therrien – and one Hollis girl – 12-year-old Molly Dee – are in the hunt to win the 2012 New Hampshire Elks South District Hoop Shoot Cfree throw contest on Jan. 7 at the Elm Street Middle School Gymnasium.

Hosted by the Nashua Lodge of Elks, the South District Hoop Shoot and the public is invited to attend the event, which begins at 9 a.m.

The 2012 South District Champions will advance to the Elks State Championship Hoop Shoot in Portsmouth the weekend of Feb. 4-5.

Elks, parents, friends and all the Hoop Shoot Contestants from the competing Elk Lodges of Nashua, Manchester, Concord, Keene, Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester and Derry/Salem will be guests at an Awards Luncheon at the Nashua Lodge of Elks home immediately after the South District contest.

State winners will be advancing to the New England Regional Hoop Shoot in South Portland, Maine, in March.

The Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Finals will take place in Springfield, Mass., in April.
