High school highlights: Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse & weekend schedule

BASEBALL

Nashua North 1, Dover 0

Jake Mellin pitched his fourth complete game of the season, scattering five hits and striking out seven Thursday afternoon as the Titans slipped past the Green Wave.

Mellin also had both hits for North (7-1), as the Titans couldn’t get any offense going against Dover starter Anthony Lupi. The Dover sophomore went six innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out six.

North scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth, when Shannon Martin and Kalvin Rodriquez both reached on errors to put runners on the corners for the Titans. Brendan Martin came in to run for Shannon Martin and North successfully pulled off a double steal to get the game’s only run.

Dover’s best chance came in the third, when Aaron Dennis reached on a one-out single, took second on a passed ball and tried to score on a single to center by Kyle Seawards. But North’s Louis Tarantino made a perfect throw to catcher Matt Fortin, who applied the tag on Dennis to keep it scoreless.
