High school sports wrapup: Boys & Girls Tenni


Hollis Brookline 6, Con-Val 3

The Cavaliers opened the Division II season with a win over the Cougars.

Sarah Ericson helped HB to two wins, taking the No. 6 singles match 8-1 and teaming with Lauren Guetling to win the No. 2 doubles match 8-5. Kesley Tulley won the No. 2 singles match 8-3 while Lian Thomas won at No. 3, 8-2, and Laura Cercel won at No. 5, 9-8.

Taylor Owens and Colleen Plesac won the No. 3 doubles match 8-2 for the Cavs, who will host Pelham on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Goffstown 9, Milford 0

The Spartans dropped their first match of the season to the Grizzlies in Division II action.

Milford’s MaryBeth Sareault fell in the No. 1 singles match to Goffstown’s Emma Stillman in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (10-8). Maria Romanenko of Milford also lost in a tiebreaker, dropping the No. 3 match to Kimberly Mcphail 9-8 (7-3).

Romanenko and Kathryn Shangraw also lost a close match at No. 2 doubles, falling to Mcphail and Taylor Giammarino 9-7.


Goffstown 8, Milford 1

Kyle Leach and Mike Dargie won the No. 3 doubles match to give the Spartans their lone win in the Division II opener.

Milford was competitive in other matches, with Ben Lambert (No. 1), Trevor Frost (No. 2) and Kent Maggelet (No. 4) dropping their singles matches 8-4. Josh Clemens fell in the No. 5 match 8-5.

Hanover 9, Souhegan 0

The Sabers were swept by the Marauders in the opening match for both Division II teams.

Souhegan’s Parker Desborough fell in the No. 6 singles match to Hanover’s Jackson Greenspan, 8-5, while Souhegan’s Nick Poulack dropped an 8-4 decision to Nick Ballou in the No. 1 match.

Poulack and Matt Protzmann fell to Ballou and Tornike Shubitidze 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match.
