Defenders 10, Jackals 2
LITTLE FALLS, N.J. – Just one night after they tied a season high with 12 runs in a blowout win, the New Jersey Jackals found themselves on the losing end of a one sided affair, falling to the American Defenders of New Hampshire 10-2 at Yogi Berra Stadium on Tuesday night.
Defenders’ starting pitcher Alex Woodson (2-1) earned the win in six innings, giving up two runs on six hits, five walks and three strike outs. Reliever Lucas Ledbetter (3) recorded his second save in three games, pitching a scoreless final three innings of the game.
Jabe Bergeron went 3-for-4 in the game with an RBI for the Defenders, while teammate Matt Nandin drove in a pair of runs on his first career triple and finished the night 1-for-3. Angel Molina and Argenis Tavarez both banged two hits and had an RBI; Zane Chavez added an RBI sacrifice fly for New Hampshire.
Jackals’ starter Stuart Pomeranz (5-6) suffered the loss pitching five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, three walks and five strike outs. Seth Overbey was tagged for five runs out of the Jackals’ bullpen. The Defenders will game three of four in the series with the New Jersey Jackals on Wednesday morning at 11:05am, when Francisco Cervantes (0-2) takes the mound for New Hampshire. A.J. Wideman (7-1) will start for the Jackals.
