Defenders 3, Jackals 1 (10 inn.)
LITTLE FALLS, N.J. - The American Defenders of New Hampshire rallied for two runs in the top of the 10th inning to beat the New Jersey Jackals 3-1 at Yogi Berra Stadium on Friday night in Little Falls, N.J.
The Defenders tied the game 1-1 in the top of the eighth when Jovanny Bramasco was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for an RBI. Boomer Berry hit a two-run single in the 10th inning, his only hit of the game, to lead New Hampshire to the victory.
Defenders starting pitcher Miguel Flores (3-0) had a no-decision, pitching 6-2/3 innings, giving up one run on nine hits, four walks, and four strikeouts. Rob Riley recorded the final out of the seventh on a single pitch.
Reliever Adam Piechowski (2-0) collected the win with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, while Juan Padilla dealt his league-leading 13th save of the season.
Jackals starter A.J. Wideman (4-0) did not factor in the decision, going 8 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and seven strikeouts. Reliever Seth Overbey suffered the loss, giving up the winning runs on two hits and two hit-batsmen in the 10th inning.
The Defenders will play New Jersey again tonight (7:05). Ted Serro (4-2) will start for the Jackals against Isaac Burkett (3-3).
