Capitales 10, Defenders 4

QUEBEC - The American Defenders of New Hampshire were defeated by the Quebec Capitales, 10-4 at Stade Municipal on Thursday night in Quebec City.

The Capitales scored six times in the sixth inning to leap past New Hampshire. Tony Lewis recorded a three-run double in the inning. He finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Douglas Toro was 3-for-3 in the game with two RBIs and Pierre-Luc LaForest (1-for-4, RBI) homered in his third straight game for Quebec.

Quebec starter Eric Gagne (1-2) notched his first victory of the season in six-plus innings, giving up two runs (one earned), on 10 hits, two walks, and one strike out. Dan Sausville allowed a pair of unearned runs in the relief.

Defenders starting pitcher Luis Ramos (4-2) took the loss in four innings pitched, allowing three runs on seven hits and three strikeouts. Rob Riley and Lucas Ledbetter each gave up three runs out of the bullpen, while Gabriel Cuevas was hit for one run in relief work.

New Hampshire’s Boomer Berry went 3-for-5 with a double while Greg lemon and Chris Kelly each had a pair of hits.

The Defenders will travel to New Jersey and begin a four-game series with the Jackals tonight at 7:05 p.m. A.J. Wideman will start for New Jersey. Miguel Flores (3-0) gets the ball for New Hampshire.
