Fisher Cats 6, Phils 2

Jack Murphy, Andy Burns and Kevin Nolan all homered as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Reading Fightin’ Phils 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

Reading put together two hits to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. K. C. Serna doubled, moved to third on a fielder’s choice and scored on a single by Raywilly Gomez.

New Hampshire (38-45) moved in front with two, two-run homers in the top of the fifth inning. Pierce Rankin’s double was followed by a Jack Murphy home run to make it 2-1. Jorge Flores singled and Andy Burns homered to make it 4-1.

Reading (34-46) came back with a run in the bottom of the frame. Peter Lavin tripled and scored on a single by Serna to make it 4-2.

Kevin Nolan ripped a 2-2 pitch for his fourth home run in the top of the sixth inning to again give the Fisher Cats a three-run lead. They added another run when Dalton Pompey reached on a bases loaded walk in the top of the ninth inning.

John Anderson made his first start of the season, allowing two runs in 42⁄3 innings before giving way to Dustin Antolin (3-3). Antolin retired all seven batters he faced in relief. Randy Boone worked two scoreless frames to finish up for his ninth save.

Hoby Milner (5-4) took the loss for Reading.

The Fisher Cats and Fightin’ Phils continue the series on Wednesday. The starters will be RHP Radhames Liz (0-1, 1.11) for New Hampshire and Reading will counter with RHP Ryan O’Sullivan (2-4, 3.33). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
