Pittsfield stops Silver Knights
The Pittsfield Suns broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third and added three more in the sixth to down the Nashua Silver Knights, 6-1, Tuesday night.
Luis Atiles’ RBI single in the eighth accounted for Nashua’s only run as the Knights managed four hits.
Spinners 6,Cyclones 2
Marino Campana hit a two-run single in the third inning, and Jaxx Groshans homered and had three hits as the Lowell Spinners beat the Brooklyn Cyclones 6-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The single by Campana came in the midst of a five-run inning and gave the Spinners a 4-1 lead. Later in the inning, Nick Decker scored on an error.
Fisher Cats 2,RubberDucks 1
Santiago Espinal drove in Logan Warmoth with a sacrifice hit in the eighth inning, leading the New Hampshire Fisher Cats over the Akron RubberDucks on Tuesday.
Warmoth scored on the play after he reached base on a walk, advanced to second on a single by Forrest Wall and then went to third on a single by Wall. In the top of the fifth, New Hampshire broke a scoreless tie on a solo home run by Kevin Smith.
Akron answered in the seventh inning when Alexis Pantoja hit an RBI single, driving in Alex Call.
Vinny Nittoli (2-2) got the win in relief while Jared Robinson (1-3) took the loss in the Eastern League game.
