Yard Goats fend off Fisher Cats

Evan Grills tossed six scoreless innings, leading the Hartford Yard Goats over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday. Matt Pierpont got Juan Kelly to ground out with runners on second and third to end the game for his 31st save of the season.

Grills (4-5) picked up the win after he struck out six and walked one while allowing two hits.

Trailing 2-0 in the seventh, New Hampshire cut into the lead when Patrick Cantwell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Harold Ramirez.

The Yard Goats added to their lead in the ninth inning when Mylz Jones scored on a stolen base.

T.J. Zeuch (9-5) went five innings, allowing two runs and six hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out four and walked one.

Ramirez doubled and singled twice, also stealing two bases for the Fisher Cats.

Despite the loss, New Hampshire is 16-3 against Hartford this season.
