Portland Sea Dogs blank New Hampshire Fisher Cats

MANCHESTER (AP) – Luke Tendler hit a two-run home run and had two hits, driving in three, and Matthew Kent hurled seven strong innings as the Portland Sea Dogs topped the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-0 on Thursday.

Kent (10-8) picked up the win after he struck out eight while allowing seven hits.

Up 2-0 in the fifth, Portland extended its lead when Tendler hit a two-run home run.

Jon Harris (10-5) went five innings, allowing four runs and eight hits while striking out six in the Eastern League game.

The Fisher Cats were held scoreless for the third time this season, while the Sea Dogs’ staff recorded their 11th shutout of the year.

All-Star efforts

A league-high six Fisher Cats have been voted to the Eastern League Season Ending All-Star Team.

2B Cavan Biggio, 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., SS Bo Bichette, RHP Jordan Romano and OFs Jonathan Davis and Harold Ramirez account for six of the league’s 14 All-Star
