Brown pitches Nashua stars to Regional victory

The host team, Nashua, remained perfect at 2-0 in the winners’ bracket of the Cal Ripken 12U New England Regional Tournament Sunday with a 13-2 win over Freetown-Lakeville of Massachusetts.

Nashua got things going in the third inning, scoring seven runs. Ryan Haskell (three RBIs), Jordan Joyal (four RBIs), Cam Brown and Thomas Campbell had multiple hits for Nashua. Derek Finley drove in a pair of runs as well. Brown got the start for Nashua to earn the win.

Apponaug, R.I. 2,

Keene, N.H. 0

Apponaug remained alive in the tournament by defeating Keene. Brayden Adler-Marano pitched a complete-game shutout to secure the win. Apponaug scored on a passed ball in the second and wild pitch in the third. Brock Haynes and Evan Gutkowski pitched well for Keene, but it wasn’t enough.

Hudson, Mass. 4,

New Canaan, Conn. 3

Hudson stays in the winners’ bracket by winning a tight game against New Canaan. Jackson O’Brien had the game-winning home run in the fifth for Hudson. New Canaan scored all its runs in the third on hits from Jack Sheffield and Danny

Rogers.

Dover, N.H. 4,

North Middlesex, Mass. 2

Dover stays alive with a thrilling win over North Middlesex. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Dover scored twice. Dover scored on a passed ball and RBI double by Bryce Carberry.

North Middlesex came right back in the sixth, scoring two on a clutch double by Zach Werner. Then, the stage was set in the bottom half of the inning when Dover’s Ryder Aubin hit the first pitch onto Harris Road for the walk-off home run.

Ashton Donia went the distance for North Middlesex and pitched well.
