Worcester Bravehearts down Nashua Silver Knights
WORCESTER, Mass. – Solid pitching d just enough timely hitting lifted the Worcester Bravehearts over the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday, 5-1.
The Silver Knights fell to 10-16 on the sseason, in sixth place, while the Bravehearts stand at 15-3, tied with Brockton for third place in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, four games behind first-place Martha’s Vineyard.
Nashua managed just three hits off a pair of Worcester pitchers.
Starter Henry Ennen worked seven innings, allowing one run on two hits. Dakota McFadden finished it off, allowing one hit and a walk.
Cody Morissette’s home run to lead off the seventh inning produced Nashua’s only run. By that point the Bravehearts had more than they would need to nail down the victory.
A scoreless tie stood into the botom of the fourth before Michael Dellcarri doubled and came home on Jack Gonzalez’s one-out double.
Silver Knights starter Brandon Dufault lasted into the fifth, leaving the mound after a wild pitch brought home Worcester’s third run.
Joe Grassett cane on to end the fifth but allowed a two-out, two-run double to Dellcarri.
The Silver Knights travel to Martha’s Vineyard tonight and return to Holman Friday night to take on Pittsfield at 6:45.
