Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 4

Barry Palmer paced the Painters with three hits and Bill Flanagan, Dan Birck, Murph Albert, and Ray Floryan each added a pair of hits. The medics made the most of their seven hits, scoring four runs. The Seniors were led by Ron Monteiro and Bob Lamontagne with two hits each.

Pine Street Eatery 3

Amherst pitcher Thom Riley helped his own cause with a three-hit day. Al Ross, Mickey Doucet, and Don Kasper aided the mechanic’s cause with a pair of hits.

Zeke Zarakotas and Peter Burr took batting honors for PSE with a pair of base hits.

Hanson’s Automotive 13

Charlie Mooradian ended the madness with a walk-off single that plated Eddie Gifford. Bill Mulley was the hit leader for Jok’s going 4 for 4. Steve Stitt had a perfect 5-for-5 day and Jerry Anctil chipped in with four hits of his own to lead Hanson’s.

M&N Sports 6,
Calvary Lock & Key 4

Rod Robuccio’s strong hitting (3 for 3 including a double) was the difference in this game as he led his mates to the victory. Steve Coco, George Mosnicka, and Gary Boyle each added a pair of hits for M&N. Dick Gillespie, Wally Hedlund, Steve Brzozowski and Bo Buczyinski led the locksmiths with two hits apiece.

Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 10, Pine Street Eatery 4

The medicine men ended the heavily favored cooks’ season with this upset win. Joe Bimonte stroked a perfect 4-for-4 day and every player in the lineup earned at least one hit.

PSE’s Mark Lara collected three hits for the chefs and Del Patton added a pair of hits.

Amherst Auto 12

Down 12-5 in the bottom of the sixth, the painters exploded for seven runs to tie the game before manager Jerry Ferullo’s sacrifice fly to left scored the winning run. Bill Flanagan and Murph Albert led the brush boys with three hits each.

Gene O’Callaghan’s 4-for-4 day led Amherst and Al Ross and Ron Gelinas did their part with three hits each.

Calvary Lock & Key 7, Hanson’s Automotive 5

Tied at five going into the sixth inning, the key makers pushed two runs across to dispatch last year’s champs to the golf course. Wally Hedlund’s three triples sparked CLK and Leo Melanson, Steve Brzozowski and Bill Katopoulis assisted with a couple of hits. Geoff Geoffrion ended his fine season with a pair of hits and Woody Woodward ended his solid year with a base hit and a sacrifice fly for the wrench turners.

M&N Sports 9,

Jok’s Auto Sales 5

Steve Coco and Rod Robuccio once again showed the way for M&N as they delivered three hits each. John Poulos, Al Abele and Paul Kaminski also contributed with a pair of hits. Pitcher Bob Lemieux homered, tripled and singled in a losing cause.

Gene O’Callaghan, Al Ross, and Ed Jaracz helped oust the locksmiths from the playoffs with three hit performances for Amherst. Dick Gillespie and Bruce Landry wrapped up their impressive seasons with a pair of hits each to lead CLK.

M&N Sports 2

This tight contest was tied early at 2-2 until the painters erupted for five runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the win. Defense for both teams was impressive and the hits were few as Bill Flanagan, Carl Seidel and Jerry Ferullo all delivered a pair of hits for the victors. Rod Robuccio continued his standout playoff performance with three hits and Len Rapone and Paul Kaminski also added a pair of hits in the loss.

Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 20, Jok’s Auto Sales 15

Mercifully, this bout ended after eight innings and 54 combined hits as the playoffs’ Cinderella team, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors, the last-place regular-season finisher, sent Jok’s, the regular-season runner-up, packing.

Ken Rousseau had a 5-for-5
day for the medics and Joe Bimonte delivered a four-hit game. Bob Larose, Ron Monteiro, Paul Poisson, and Bill Ohm chipped in with three hits each. Eddie Gifford and Frank Twardosky ended their season for Jok’s with four-hit efforts and Bob Lemieux, Les Johnson and Bill Mulley had three hits.
